179 dead, 2 rescued in passenger plane crash in Muan, Korea
In Muan, South Korea, 179 people have been confirmed dead following the crash of a Jeju Air flight carrying 181 passengers.
The plane, which was returning from Bangkok, was attempting to land when it skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall. Of the 181 people on board, including six crew members, 94 deaths have been confirmed so far.
One crew member and one passenger have been rescued alive and are being treated at a local hospital. A fire broke out in the plane after it crashed, complicating the rescue efforts.
The accident occurred at Muan International Airport in Muan County, located approximately 288 kilometers southwest of Seoul.
Authorities have estimated that, apart from the two survivors, all other missing passengers are likely to have died.
