176 Nepalese Stranded in Brazil Trying to Enter U.S.

176 Nepali citizens attempting to enter the United States illegally are currently stuck in Brazil.

The Nepali Embassy in Brazil issued a statement on Tuesday, informing that the 176 Nepali citizens are stranded at the São Paulo airport.

The embassy stated that they are safe and ready to provide humanitarian assistance to them as needed.

“The embassy has been made aware of recent news that around 700 foreigners, including Nepalis, are stranded in the transit area of São Paulo airport in Brazil. All 176 Nepali citizens in transit are safe, and the embassy is prepared to provide humanitarian assistance as needed,” the embassy said.

The embassy has requested that individuals wishing to travel to Brazil or other countries via Brazil should only do so with valid documentation and entry permits, as such travel, facilitated by human traffickers, is illegal, risky, and uncertain.
