Prakashman Singh Raut recommended for Chief Justice

Kathmandu; Prakash Man Singh Raut, senior most judge of the supreme court, has been recommended for appointment as the next Chief Justice.

A meeting of the constitution council headed by Prime Minister k p Sharma Oli recommended Raut’s name. if confirmed by Parliamentary hearing committee, Raut will be succeeding Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha after he retires on October 6.

Indira Rana Magar, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a member of the constitutional council said the tradition of recommending the senior most judge has been maintained this time as well. The judicial council had sent a name of eight sc judges , all with a minimum of three years experience , for consideration for the top post.
