National Sports Council to arrange a city tour for Palesha
Para-Olympic athlete Palesha Govardhan, who has made history as the first Nepalese to win an Olympic medal, will be arriving in Nepal on Wednesday morning. According to the National Sports Council, she is scheduled to land at Tribhuvan International Airport at 8 AM.
The council has also planned a city tour program immediately upon her arrival. The council will host a grand welcome and a city tour for her and the Nepalese team.
The rally will begin at 8:30 AM from the airport, passing through Gaushala, Old Baneshwor, Maitidevi, Dillibazar, Bagbazar, Bhadrakali, Shahid Gate, Tripureswor Chowk, and will conclude at the National Sports Council premises. A welcome ceremony and an interaction program have been arranged at the council.
Para-Taekwondo athlete Palesha Govardhan won a bronze medal by defeating Serbia’s Maria Misev in the women’s 57 kg category , with a score of 15-8. Since the Tokyo Olympics of 1964, Nepal has been participating in the Olympics and, since the Athens Paralympics of 2004, in the Para-Olympics.
The silver medal won in the Asian Games was considered a significant achievement in Nepalese sports history. Now, Palesha’s success at the Paris Para-Olympics has set a new historical milestone.
